Blogging is like...

exercising. You leave it for a day or two and you're doomed. So no excuses. I haven't been blogging nor have I been exercising.

I have been trying to purchase a Wii Fit though, but you can't get them for love nor money in these parts. I am clearly destined not to be thin and lovely.

Drastic measures too, I am on a diet. Grump, grump, grump. There's nothing like getting your summer wardrobe out to realise that something more than a little light toning is required. So I have been depriving myself, my stomach has been grumbling in protest, I could have sworn I'd thrown at least a few pounds off, I even feel thin, but alas the scales tell me this morning I have lost one little measly pound. Not good.

And I haven't been writing either. Aargh. I really must get my bottom into gear.

Today's job though is to sort out a few bits and pieces for Kit. He's off on a Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition tomorrow and handed me a kit list this morning. It has 94 items on it, here are just a few of them.

Essential - Life Threatening - Map Case
Important - Health Threatening - Talcum Powder, Elastic Bands
Imporant - Risk Management - Spare Underwear
Comfort - Mallet, Scouring Pad

The mind boggles! I wouldn't mind but he's only going for a jaunt around The Chilterns. Hopefully the sun will shine on them all and the blisters will be kept to a minimum!

OOooh I really want a Wii Fit too. Only I'd have to get a Wii first and I'm skint!

BTW my sister told me that apparently some sod reserved all the Wii Fits on Argos and is selling the reservation numbers on Ebay. So the only way you can buy a Wii Fit from Argos is to buy the reservation number off him! The cheek of it! But maybe you could try it if you're really desperate...

I'm on a diet too. 3 days now of calorie counting and rumbling tummy and I'm how 1/2 pound. Wow wee! I'm off to see a gig tonight and I'm already thinking about boozy calories. A vodka and diet coke is 50 calorie and a large glass of white wine is 150 so 3x as many calories but 3x as tasty. Oooh choices, choices!

DOWN half a pound not 'how' half a pound!

That must be the same person who bought all the Argos DS Lites before Christmas...

Am also hopeful of losing a few pounds, altho' I chose my words carefully and am not promising myself I'll take any actual steps to achieve it. For me the summer skirts and dresses are a lot more forgiving than the winter jeans weightwise - it's more exposing the pasty, bare legs I worry about.

My daughter has a Wii fit and the day I bought it (for about £62) we were told that they were already being sold for £103 on ebay.

I lost a pound last week and put it on this week. So I'm not exactly doing this dieting lark the right way. Maybe I should cut out the chocolates!

Am also on a diet, am such a grump for it. Have been using the Wii Fit for a week now, it's a lot more interesting than the gym!

We've got a Wii (I've got the bruised fingers from getting carried away and whacking the bookshelf to prove it) but I'm lusting after a Wii fit.

I'm not on a diet. Don't hate me.

I can't even think about going on a diet, but I'm overjoyed that it is now officially flip flop wearing weather! As long as my feet are comfy I don't care x

I know what you mean about the blog. It's a unwieldy beast - a couple of days off and it's all out of control!:-)

Good luck with your diet/Wii Fit search and have a good weekend:-)

Hope all goes well for Kit! I can still recall the suitcase-shaped 'mud pie' we turned out when one of The Men went on similar expedition. :-) But great fun. P.

I've had a go on a friend's Wii and COULD NOT get the hang of it at all! I'll stick to jaunting round the Chilterns, I think :o)

How did the trip go? Blisters??

Cal - Must admit we did buy the Wii, at a premium, off ebay and that was from a chap who'd bought it from Argos. Probably the same guy! Only did it because it was my daughter's xmas pressie and couldn't get one elsewhere. This time round, I'll wait until they're back in the shops.

I'm trying to cut back on those empty calories in alcohol, but finding it tres difficile.

Honeysuckle - Johnson's Holiday tannning stuff is great at giving pasty legs a nice warm glow. I can recommend it.

Debs - That's the trouble, losing a pound is such a lot of effort, but it can go again all too easily!

Yvonne - Everyone's on a diet! Can't wait to get the wii fit, it sounds like a lot of fun.

Tam - You're not on a diet and I've seen your gorgeous photo too? Hmmm, you're not top of my xmas card list at the moment :-)

Helen - I know what you mean, it's lovely to get the painted toenails out again.

Lane - An unwieldy beast, indeed!

Penny - Thanks! He made it back in one piece and no mud pies!

Karen - Must admit I never mastered the playstation. I'm hoping the Wii will be a lot easier to manage.

Tam - Thanks for asking! He had a great time and managed to avoid the blisters.

Tell Kit to rub vaseline on the inside of his boots. Not that I'm a walker but I was soldier's wife. Well I'm still married to the soldier but he's now a teacher - far harder!

I've given up wine for gin and slimline tonic. I think it's working but giving up the crisps...

Maddie Moon said...

Hi Casdok, blogs seem to have a life force of their own, don't they?

Hello Fiona! Thanks for the tip, we'll remember that for next time.

Crisps and peanuts and nibbles are a problem, aren't they? You always tell yourself you'll have just one and there lies ruin....

"Comfort - mallet, scouring pad"???? That doesn't sound like my idea of comfort, I have to say! Glad to hear he survived the experience though!

Oh, dieting really is a torment... seems we're all at it right now?

Oh, everyone but me has a Wii... what with that and all the summer clothes I've just bought in the disheartening 'next size up', it's £££s I'm down rather than anything more jollyfying.

Sigh.

Lucy - No, I'm not sure Kit's ever come up close and personal with a scouring pad!

Jen - Oh, you and me alike. Very depressing!
